Bolivia extends deadline for renewal of Commercial Registration for mining companies

Bolivia extends deadline for renewal of Commercial Registration for mining companies

On 25 February 2026, Bolivia’s Plurinational Commercial Registry Service (SEPREC) issued Administrative Resolution No. 109/2026, introducing an exceptional extension for the renewal of the Commercial Registration (Matrícula de Comercio) corresponding to fiscal year 2025.

The measure applies to economic units and commercial companies engaged in mining activities whose fiscal year closes on 30 September.

Extended renewal deadline

Under the Resolution, the deadline for renewing the Commercial Registration has been extended until 31 March 2026. Consequently, the validity of the Commercial Registration corresponding to fiscal year 2025 remains in force until that same date.

The Resolution also provides that its provisions enter into force on 1 March 2026.

Background of the measure

According to internal reports from SEPREC, as of 23 February 2026 only 10.6% of the economic units falling within this category had renewed their Commercial Registration, while 89.4% had not yet completed the process.

In light of this situation, the authority considered it appropriate to grant an exceptional extension in order to facilitate compliance and avoid large-scale deregistration from the Commercial Registry.

Consequences of non-compliance

The Resolution reiterates that failure to renew the Commercial Registration within the extended deadline will result in deregistration from the Commercial Registry.

Such deregistration entails automatic suspension from legally conducting commercial activities as of the day following the expiry of the deadline.

Practical considerations for mining companies

Mining companies with a fiscal year closing on 30 September should review the status of their Commercial Registration and complete the renewal process before 31 March 2026 to avoid operational, regulatory or contractual risks associated with deregistration.
